about anne hero

i am an indo-guyanese & latino freelance illustrator and mechanical engineer in the USA.

i run a web store that specializes in importing and recirculating 90's and 00's fashion, mascot, and video game merchandise from japan, california (the last bastion of stateside sanrio..) and canada. i've always been talented at digital secondhand (i'm a lifelong ebayer); i'm interested in showing my customers (fans, collectors, curators, nerds) something they've never seen before. to that end, i will try to put together a digital archive of everything i've stocked in my shop..

some of the most popular brands and characters I stock include:

in addition, i stock stickers of my original artwork as well as deadstock designs from lesser known illustrators from japan including emi nakayama, itsuko ayano, katoken, ibuki urano, and hory.

the majority of my packaging is reused, and the CDs that I sell are made using e-waste jewelcases with locally printed materials. my prices are very likely the cheapest place on the web (it's not a scam i promise..i've had over 3,500 orders!) because i focus on buying in bulk from collectors who are expunging their entire collection at once; i only mark my prices up when it becomes more expensive for me to stock the item.

the rest of my website is dedicated to jungle music via the sale of CDs and zines featuring music made by my peers, including dazegxd, tee vera, lola lilac, and more. i also have been commissioning 30 minute jungle mixes by DJs in the continental USA that i have come across online or offline— please take your time listening to them and (if you have booking power, all of their contact information is accessible here..)

why jungle music?

i was raised by junglists.. my mom used to design websites, conduct amateur photoshoots, mingle with DJs, and shmooze with record label guys in the late 90s in NYC (before stateside jungle succumbed to the drumnbassening..) (go read a book!) so jungle has always been a huge part of my life; i hadn't met anyone my age who knew what jungle was until i was 21 (6 years ago..) so after seeing dazegxd DJ jungle live 3 years ago i felt inspired to give back to jungle in order to understand my mom better and continue the body of work she left behind.. so now i illustrate for merchandise and album art and run merch tables and go to raves and dance and travel around the world as a professional junglist ^__^ (this sounds kind of hedonistic but it's really just tax writeoff stuff >__>..) if u see me at a show say hi
